i feel like each one of these little thought segments are staged like jerry seinfeld vignettes "erm, whats the deal with linkedin?". i'll tell you what linkedin is -- it is a platform full of insipid lobotomites with cushy office jobs, who somehow think they have the authority to speak on what is best for whatever industry they infest. or at least that is all i see in the social media part of it. i see a lot of design industry people discussing why entry-level positions are steadily declining in vacancies, and the high expectations of any company hiring a designer of whatever kind. then i visit their page and oh! they have no entry-level jobs available, and they expect 3 to 4 years of design-related experience for a junior position. it is a massive circlejerk.

it is not just the people that inhabit linkedin that i find tedious, it is linkedin itself. it will give you notifications, and messages, that are just advertisements for some service you have no use for, or jobs you have already applied to. how the fuck do i get hired in this current climate? i have gotten close, but those occasions were more from me just being in the right place at the right time. i cant replicate those scenarios. the website really loves to make you feel like a worthless bottom feeder, i have a little banner on my profile that says "open to work!" like that is going to impact anything, it's a badge of shame at this point. it truly is all about who you know instead of a merit-based system that makes sense. sensitive young men who cannot communicate well have been left to the wayside, i am utterly fucked, and this website loves to rub it in your nose. at least it's better than indeed though.
