Adobe have me by the balls. their programmes are optimised like shit and cost an exorbitant amount of money... plus, they don't work on Linux! i'm eternally cucked out of something that sounds really cool! and yes, I am aware of the Wine workaround, but that needs some significant improvements to make me consider switching over. it's not because there is a lack of alternatives, far from it, no. it all comes down to the plug-ins and ongoing support. these programmes have been around for years, and in my opinion not a single other piece of software measures up when it comes to the user interface, plug-in support, and the very helpful community that has been built up over the decades. i would be nothing without after effects tutorials.
i also dont really want to spend the time learning something new (and likely inferior). i am very sensitive when it comes to finnicky user interfaces that do not make any sense. they disgust me. frankly, anybody who considers gimp even slightly on par with photoshop clearly has no idea what the fuck they are talking about -- you could even say they are a gimp themselves. it astonishes me how after so many years nothing even closely rivals the adobe suite... i have heard of affinity, but i feel like with them it is only a matter of time before they kike out and start charging. plus, screw canva. i am not a woman and i refuse to engage with canva. i use figma like a real man. sort of. does figma work on linux? it is browser based, so it is probably less of a hassle... so i would guess so.
oh, and obviously i do not fucking pay six hundred pounds sterling annually for adobe. i use gen p. if you are going to pirate adobe software, use gen p - it is the best way to do so. pirating plug-ins can be a risky endeavour, so do so at your own risk. i am in a discord server that simply has links to safe downloads for them, which is helpful, but even then i am cautious. if you drop your guard for one second, adobe will molest you.
