24th July 2026 -- Autistic Midwit
I really wish I did things more often, I'd have a bit more to report about then. I don't have much desire to talk about pop culture, or recent developments in the news, because I'm not exactly going to be adding much of substance to that conversation. For most of the last week, I've been trying to brush up on my Adobe skills - namely After Effects and Photoshop. Just following tutorials and trying to remind myself of the core fundamentals. Photoshop is a software that I really should delve into more, because it has the most potential for making cool shit in, and I sort of want to make cool shit to spread around this website (and also actually make the gallery page that has been sitting empty for like 3 months). Of course, I'm still doing my Japanese on a daily basis, averaging 25 new words/phrases every single day, and this takes up more than an hour of my time -- and it'll likely grow from there, as the amount of vocab I'll be required to study will grow exponentially overtime.
I made £21 off a Tiktok video recently, which was about 4 hours of work. I bet you're jealous that I get paid half of the minimum wage to make something that might not even make money, huh? I mean, it's something I enjoy, and I started off doing it for nothing as a hobby, so I guess it's just a passive benefit. Nothing wrong with some extra pocket money. I would sort of like to have a real job, though. It's odd, there's a very clear shortage of openings, only about 1-2 applicable ones are coming out a week. It's ridiculous. I sort of want to have a part-time gig while I'm in Uni, but it's looking less and less plausible. It has been like this all year, and you'd think that July would be the peak of job openings? I have no trouble getting interviews, I'd say when it comes to wagie jobs, I get an interview 30% of the time which is pretty amazing considering the volume of applications they must be receiving (I don't even tick the disabled box thing that guarantees me an interview!).
I've started talking to more people online, but it does sort of feel aimless a lot of the time. I don't jive perfectly with these people, and yet again, it's almost as if they resent me somewhat. I don't want to bother them. I have yet to find more of my kind -- that kind being autistic midwits who resent other autistic midwits. Again, maybe the fact that I got the scholarship opens up the possibility of me running into fellow neets? Who knows. I don't meet with them until October, so I'll report back then.
